Headless Shopify design

Have your Shopify store built — without theme limits.

Shopify takes care of products, stock, payment and checkout. In front of it, I build your own fast storefront — designed for your brand and made for buying on a phone.

How it works

Your design up front, Shopify behind it.

Headless means the storefront is separated from Shopify. Your customers see a custom, fast design — the technology behind it stays proven Shopify.

What your customers see

  • Your own design instead of a standard theme
  • Product and category pages that sell
  • Guides, landing pages and campaigns
  • Fast loading on every phone
connected through an interface

What Shopify handles

  • Products, variants and stock
  • Secure checkout and payment methods
  • Orders, shipping and invoices
  • Discounts, customer accounts and apps in the background

Benefits

Why headless can pay off.

I have worked in leading e-commerce roles for more than 20 years. I know shops from the merchant's side, not just the developer's.

Design without theme limits

Home page, categories and product pages are built the way your brand needs — not the way a theme allows.

Noticeably faster

Pages are generated in advance and delivered close to your customers. Fast pages reduce drop-offs, especially on phones.

Stronger on Google

Clean structure, unique copy per category and structured product data give Google what it needs for good rankings.

Shopify stays Shopify

You manage products, stock and orders in the Shopify admin as usual. The secure Shopify checkout stays in place.

Content and shop as one

Guides, landing pages and campaigns live right in the shop — without app sprawl and without design breaks.

Grows with you

Multiple languages, more markets or custom features such as product configurators can be added cleanly.

Who it's for

A good fit when your shop wants more than a theme.

Brands with their own look

Your shop should look like your brand — not like a thousand other shops using the same theme.

Growing catalogues

Many products, variants and categories that need to be clear and quick to browse.

Content-rich shops

Guides, how-tos and stories around your products that should be found on Google.

Shops hitting their limits

Your theme is full of apps, slow or a struggle with every change? Then headless is the next step.

An honest comparison

Theme or headless? Both have their place.

Shopify with a theme

Ideal to get started: quick to set up, more affordable and with plenty of ready-made apps. A good fit when a solid theme carries your brand and the catalogue is manageable.

Good for new shops, small catalogues, tight budgets

Headless Shopify

Pays off when design, speed and Google visibility are real revenue levers — or when the theme slows down every change.

Good for brands, growing shops and lots of content

In the first consultation I'll tell you honestly what suits your shop — even if the answer is a good theme.

I design and build the shop. With a preview link you see every stage and give feedback.

  4. 04

Guide

Having a Shopify store built: what matters.

What a good Shopify store needs

Theme or headless: a store sells when visitors quickly find what they are looking for and buy without doubts. These are the points I check in every shop project:

  • Clear navigation and a search that actually finds products
  • Product pages with good photos, clear copy and all details on shipping and returns
  • A short, mobile-friendly path to checkout
  • Trust through reviews, badges and real contact details
  • Clean tracking so you know which channels sell
  • SEO basics: unique copy per category, clean headings, structured product data

Headless commerce with Shopify: how the store is built

In a headless store, a custom frontend fetches products, prices and the cart through Shopify's Storefront API. I build this frontend with Next.js and deliver it through a global network close to your customers. Purchases still go through the secure Shopify checkout.

Content such as guides or landing pages comes from Shopify itself or from a headless CMS. You manage products and content in one place, and the design stays consistent.

A Shopify agency from Emlichheim — for shops across Germany

I have worked in leading e-commerce roles for more than 20 years and have been delivering projects for businesses with Web & Search since 2011. You get shop, SEO and Google Ads from a single source and one fixed contact, from the first call until after launch.

We work together in person in the County of Bentheim and Emsland, or by video anywhere in Germany.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about headless Shopify.

What does headless Shopify mean?+

Everything your customers see is separated from Shopify. Shopify delivers products, prices and the checkout through an interface, and I build the storefront individually. You get design freedom and speed without giving up Shopify as a proven system.

Can I keep managing the shop myself?+

Yes. You manage products, prices, stock and orders in the Shopify admin as usual. For copy and landing pages I set up a simple way to edit them.

Will my Shopify apps keep working?+

Apps that work in the background — for shipping, accounting or inventory, for example — keep running. Apps that display something in the theme are replaced with custom solutions or connected through their interface.

Do I need Shopify Plus?+

Usually not. The interface for headless shops is also available on the regular Shopify plans. We check in the first call whether your plan includes everything you need.

Can an existing shop move without losing rankings?+

Yes. Product data and copy are kept, and all old URLs are permanently redirected to the matching new pages, so neither Google results nor links end up in the void.

Do you work like a Shopify agency?+

You get concept, design, build, SEO and Google Ads on request, just like with a Shopify agency — but with one fixed point of contact instead of changing project managers. I work from Emlichheim for shops all over Germany.

Hydrogen or Next.js — what do you build the shop with?+

Shopify offers its own framework called Hydrogen. I usually use Next.js, which this website also runs on: shop, website, blog and possibly a customer portal can live in one system, and you are not tied to Shopify for hosting.

What does it cost to have a Shopify store built?+

A store with a ready-made theme is quicker to set up and more affordable. A headless store costs more because design and build are done individually. The exact amount depends on catalogue, number of pages and features. After the free first consultation you get a fixed-price offer within 48 hours.
